More muslim insanity: www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061205/LIFESTYLE04/612050368They have learned our laws and will use every effort to make a mockery of them. So, what's this woman expect? We should all stop working out so she can pray? If she wanted to pray, she should have gone home or not come to Fitness USA. Or, she could just pray like the rest of us do, in silence and / or to herself. To make a spectacle of herself is ridiculous. Anyone else getting sick of these people?

I didn't see exactly what happened to her. Did someone simply speak to her and break her concentration or was she told she couldn't pray at the fitness center?

It didn't really go into detail about how she was interrupted. I found these statements interesting though.... This was terribly rude if this is actually what was said to her. This manager needs a new job if they cannot learn to respect all people with all different points of view. If this is true, then I can see why they were removed from the flight. I would probably request that they be removed also if I was a passenger and overheard them making critical comments. Especially after what happened on 9/11. These men should have been smarter than they were. Any one knows that in this day and age, you don't book a one-way flight, take no luggage, and then bend down in the airport and criticize the government. That just isn't smart. It's not okay. I would become just as concerned if a "Christian fellow" or a "Jewish fellow" starting praying out loud and were making critical comments about the government, had no luggage, and a one-way ticket. You don't have to be Muslim to be a terrorist. IMO, the Muslim faith got a bad rep when the attackers of 9/11 did what they did. Sadly, in this country, most people are not tolerant of people different from themselves. If it had been a group from another faith, I'm sure that faith would be dealing with these same issues.

Do you hate all immigrants or just Muslim ones? I hate the ones that have to do everything in your face and who have no tolerance for the customs of America and the immigrants who want us to bend over backwards to help them bring their culture over here. if they don't like our customs go back where where they came from or move to a country that fits your needs better. Here in America we don't pray in public and we don't stop in the middle of work out to pray.

I said immigrants should be tolerant of our way of life. That Muslim woman should have been more understanding and tolerant and understood that praying at that time is not a proper thing to do. She should of prayed before or afters. There's a time & place for everything.

I suppose I am fortunate the Muslims that live in my town have been here longer than me and are all decent hardworking law abiding citizens, they have their mosque in the town. Many run restaraunts and make excellent curries, so I'm not complaining.

Unfortunately, there are a number of folks on this board who really have a problem with anyone who is Muslim it seems to me, immigrant or native. I truly think its unfortunare that so many find it so easy to hate/distrust/fear an entire group because there are some who corrupt the religion to feed their own hate.

You have to understand the situation here. Dearborn is a city with mostly an Arabic / muslim population. There are around 500, 000 of these people in that area. Caucasians, blacks and others feel like they are in a muslim country.
I agree with SK. People who come here should assimilate into our society, not expcet us to become like them. This woman complained she was INTERRUPTED while praying, although it doesn't say how. Bid deal. Who cares? That's the type of "in your face" that American citizens are faced with in their lives from foreigners who think they are still in Iran. She should have stayed home if she wanted to pray. This is not a muslim only club. It's a health club where people work out. It is clear that the muslim is at fault. Want to pray, go ahead. If you're in a health club, you will be interrupted. It's a public place. Get over it, or go home.

There's a time & place for everything. Were your ancestors immigrants? If they were, they were not tolerant of the native americans way of life. This has been going on for hundreds of years in America. People were not tolerant of Irish, Polish, etc. etc. etc. All Asian people were discriminated against because of Pearl Harbor, whether they were Japanese or not. The week following 9/11 a woman was killed here at a local park. Why? Because she LOOKED like she was from Iran, when in fact she was native american. My point is prejudicial practices have gone on in America for years, that does not make it right.

The story isn't at all clear about what this person was doing that could be considered coercive. I get the feeling that it was more than just a muslim 'Our Father'. If it wasn't she has a legitimate grievance.

There is no "our father" in muslim speak. She probably pulled out her rug and knelt down in the middle of the running track, then, complained she was interrupted. Sheesh~!

Assimilate, just how far? My wife (who will have dual citizenship next year BTW )is from Georgia.I would have to say she has assimilated. She speaks english(georgian to her friends and Sophia because it's easier)drives a big-ass SUV,eats pizza and hot dogs and apple pie.She also loves the country she grew up in,makes khachapuri and khinkali. One can never forget their roots.I don't believe for a minute if you moved to another country you'd forget about the Yankees,Bears and good old pumpkin pie
