Unfortunately, there are a number of folks on this board who really have a problem with anyone who is Muslim it seems to me, immigrant or native. Please mark me down as one of them.

Please mark me down as one of them. And you're proud of this? So it would seem. I sure don't understand why someone would brag about being a biggot. Not something I would have thought anyone would be proud of.

You know, I can understand being apprehensive after what happened. Not only that, but it -is- human nature to fear what we are unfamiliar with or don't understand. But good heavens, we're not cavemen anymore. We're SUPPOSED to be capable of rational thought. We're capable of thinking through our initial fear and come to some sort of understanding. But to hate an entire group of people because of the actions of a handful of zealots....? My mind just boggles at that.

And to boast of it yet. {shrug} I don't understand that sort of mind set and don't really want to.

That Muslim woman should have been more understanding and tolerant and understood that praying at that time is not a proper thing to do. She should of prayed before or afters. There's a time & place for everything. Muslims pray by the clock like robots, not by how they feel. When it's noon (i.e.) they are supposed to drop everything and pray on the floor. Eventually, this will be status quo here in restaurants, movie theaters, classrooms, assembly plants, telephone solicitation businesses, etc.....just like in Islamic countries. Y'all will be dancing to THEIR tune.

You have to understand the situation here. Dearborn is a city with mostly an Arabic / muslim population. There are around 500, 000 of these people in that area. Caucasians, blacks and others feel like they are in a muslim country. I agree with SK. People who come here should assimilate into our society, not expcet us to become like them. Assimilate, just how far? My wife (who will have dual citizenship next year BTW )is from Georgia.I would have to say she has assimilated. She speaks english(georgian to her friends and Sophia because it's easier)drives a big-ass SUV,eats pizza and hot dogs and apple pie.She also loves the country she grew up in,makes khachapuri and khinkali. One can never forget their roots.I don't believe for a minute if you moved to another country you'd forget about the Yankees,Bears and good old pumpkin pie I know all about this since I am an immigrant. Our family assimilated very quickly into Americans. We did not abandon our culture completely but after being here for 45 years, with parents passing away, it's not easy to follow the customs from the old country. There really was not that much difference between Poland and the US. The customs are pretty close. But to come from a place like Iran, Iraq or Timbuktu, it may take some time to adjust here. You start by getting rid of carrying around the carpet and stop dropping on it on the floor as soon as noon comes around and then complain about it. That attitude is the 'in your face' tude we are talking about and causes animosity against the slims. I don't see my manager at work dropping on the floor at noon. I do see him sit in a chair and face the east and pray by himself. He gets respect from many around here because he is a good man and shows respect for others by not shoving his beliefs in our faces. Which is exactly what this woman did in the health spa.

Your last 2 sentences I can agree with.In light of what's hapened the last 6 years,Muslims shoving things in our face IS going to cause problems.

If you come to America Speak English and follow U.S. Laws. We are expected to learn their language and adapt to their way of life. It is simple.

Which US law says that they should speak English? They can speak any language they like as long as they don't expect the taxpayer to foot the bill for signs and forms in Swahili.

You're a "bigot" and "hate" someone if you "have a problem with them"? That's all Porky said. And in light of what's going on in the world today, I see nothing wrong with that. It's called being vigilant.
