I suspect the airport would have had no problem with adding a menorah if they could be assured that it would put an end to the controversy. But it sounds to me like they feared this lawsuit was just the tip of the iceberg and, if they gave in to the rabbi, they'd be forced to give in to folks from other religions who may have felt compelled to sue. If you buy that arguement, just what other holidays would have to be represented? And so what if they were? For an international airport?? A whole lot going on this time of year....... Check it out!!

Here we go again. I, I, I, I. There are others on the planet than I, I and I. And, yes, it is across teh country. But, there's much more to it than that. Too bad you don't recognize that. So tell me. How does the Seatle Airport's holiday decorations, or lack there of, affect YOUR Christmas? I'm so sick of those who complain, and those who change for the sake of complaining. That goes for those who complain because it's there, and those that complain because it ISN'T there. It's silly, and couterproductive to the Season. I recognize that the holidays' have NOW become more about whiners and complainers then those who actually ENJOY the season for what it is. Geez...give it UP already. *the above rant is not directed at anyone in particular in reference to complainers and whiners just so no one get's their knickers in a twist* End soapbox. ;D

It affects everyone, Kissy, because when they took down those trees, others may follow in other airports, other cities, other bus stops , other trains, other this and that. It may not be in your neighborhood, but it could be tomorrow. It could be your home in another 30 years becuase someone will complain that they don't like your Christmas tree lights as they walk or drive past your home. I don't like to give any ground. once you give up ground, others will want more ground.

Ticket agents put up their own Christmas trees. Yeay. They are about 6 feet tall. The ambassador in the interview just stated that the reason many places are removing Christ from Christmas is because people are not voicing their opinions, that they are fence sitters. Ha Where have we heard that before?

the reason many places are removing Christ from Christmas I think those who think Christ is being removed from Christmas are paranoid in the extreme since for Christians, the only ones who celebrate Christmas as Christ's birth, it cannot be removed. For those who choose to celebrate the whole Christmas season as a season of love, hope, peace and gift giving without the association of Christ's birth, Christ can't really be removed since they don't really believe anyway. And for Jews celbrating Hannuka, Christ is not a factor either.

I think you're wrong. And I think the moral decline in this country is an obvious sign that you are. The moral decline in this country (and the resst of the world) has a vast number of causes only one of which is whether or not people are religious. But my comments weren't about moral decline they were about whether there is this vast conspiracy to remove Christ from Christmas. A totally different thing.

There are many out there that shun anything religious and consider anyone having religion as freaks and the far right wing religious right...ever heard that expression?

I know some very moral people who are not Christian, and some Christians who are not moral. Of course, this is just MY opinion, but I think the "moral decline" has been coming on for several generations, and just gets worse with each one. And while some things are universally moral/immoral, many other things shift and change in status as time progresses. After all, it was once considered immoral for a woman to show her ankles in public.

Your comment was in response to MrsP's, so I assumed you were talking about religion (in general), or the lack there-of being the cause of the moral decline in the country. I disagreed with that. I said "Christians", because that was what was being discussed by her, but it can just as easily apply to ALL religions. As far as the moral decline in general... I don't disagree with that, Dear.
