I guess I just don't get it. I've never seen a Muslim pray so I'm assuming that it is different than the way I pray. I don't need a seperate room to pray in. I can pray anywhere I want. I can pray right in front of everyone and they would never even know it. It is one of those things that makes me go.....hmmmmm. That's what I was thinking, mommy. I can't fathom the reason they would need separate rooms. I thought it was part of their belief system to pray in the presence of others; non-believers, maybe to convert some. I know they're required to pray, I think, 5 times a day. Maybe they need the privacy because their praying rituals are quite demonstrative and unsettles people of other religious persuasions. Peace, OHD

If the air travel industry answered my prayers, there'd be brothels at airports and all the free spray on condom crap ya want (see:Science & Technology :: Spray on condoms ) I'll second that! He cracks me up.

Peace, OHD I've never seen them pray and there is a possibility that doing so might make me uncomfortable. But, I have absolutely no problem with them doing so. I'm free to walk away. I don't have to stand there and listen or watch. Just as they wouldn't have to stand there and watch me. To each his own I say, especially with something like this. There praying is not going to hurt me. I may not agree but it isn't going to kill me to see or hear it.

No more than it would seeing a large group of Christians, holding hands in a circle and praying at the gate. Any kind of prayer I think would make me feel more comfortable. Probably 99.99% of Muslims are good people with nothing but peaceful intentions. We were trying to land at DFW once, in the middle of a thunderstorm. We were running out of fuel. Lots of people, mostly Christian, were praying fervently! That didn't bother me a bit! Haha! Peace, OHD

I think everyone here is missing the point. What did you EXPECT them to do? Sure...they can pray anywhere, anyhow they want. How often will the issue pop up like last week of a group of Muslims being thrown off a plane simply because another passenger didn't like the fact that they prayed before boarding? So, the Muslims are damned if the do damned if they don't. If they pray in the waiting room, great. However they are more likely to be labeled as terrorists because of it. Tough noogies...it's what they get for being Muslim in the first place. So they ask for a prayer room instead. Nope...that's granting special privileges so what arrogant, inconsiderate azzes. So either way, it's not acceptable. Fair enough. Let's just ship them all out of the country anyway. It'll save a lot of time and money in the long run. *end sarcasm*

I see folks. Pray like Chirstians do or you are wrong. What a bunch of intolerant people i see in here. There are chapels in airports ya know. Identifiably Christian chapels. What the hell is wrong with other Americans wanting their religion treated equally? Why is that a problem for any of you? Guess how many "CHAPELS" are in airports in Muslim countries. In Saudi Arabia, it is a CRIME to POSSESS a Bible! It is a CRIME to wear a CROSS around your neck. Jews or those with Jewish-sounding surnames are NOT allowed ENTRY into Saudi Arabia. Christians are not permitted in Mecca or Medina. Who's intolerant? MUSLIMS ARE THE MOST INTOLERANT RELIGION ON THE PLANET. I don't know why there are some who are such muslim apologists. Some who claim to be Christian fervently support their cause and reject the Christian cause. Which side are you on? Oh, oh, another religion battle brewing???

I think everyone here is missing the point. What did you EXPECT them to do? Pray BEFORE they arrive at the airport like everyone else. Frankly, I'd rather see the eradication of airport "chapels" than see a row of separate meditation rooms for Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Wiccans, Satan-worshippers, Hindus, Animists, Cannibals, etc.

Peace, OHD How about as a 'strategy' room for planning attacks at airports. That could be a reason for 'prayer rooms'. Does anyone doubt it? I don't. All this special request for muslim rooms is doing is catering to a group that wants special rights and causes more problems than it solves. The other issue is they always face east, to Mecca. If slims are on a plane from NY to LA and it's noon, what will they want to do, ask the captain to turn the plane around so they could sit in their seats and face the east? This entire issue is ridiculous. Peace through strength, KO

So we should all convert to Christianity? No thanks.

If I (as a Christian) suddenly plopped down on my knees in the middle of the airport concourse, stuck my butt up in the air and started mumbling in another language, many folks would call that "disruptive" and some would even call it "inappropriate" or "attention-getting". What would they think in Karachi, Pakistan if a Pentacostal Christian started doing a snake dance and speaking in tongues in their airport? Don't forget that just before praying, Muslims MUST first wash their face, hands and bare FEET somewhere.
