What next? Prayer room ON the airplanes? When will this insanity stop? The time to stop it is now. Nip it in the bud, as Barney Fife used to say. I say hell no. Emphatically, hell no! Or it will be endless. If they make rooms for these people, why not for Jews, Christians, 7th day Adventists, Mormons, etc? Also, if they get these 'prayer rooms', they could become places of planning and meeting for inappropriate activity, ie, planning attacks. I sure hope the authorities stand their ground. ----------------------------------------------- Muslims Seek Prayer Room at Airport Dec 01 6:53 PM US/Eastern By PATRICK CONDON Associated Press Writer MINNEAPOLIS Airport officials said Friday they will consider setting aside a private area for prayer and meditation at the request of imams concerned about the removal of six Muslim clerics from a US Airways flight last week. Steve Wareham, director of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, said other airports have "meditation rooms" used for prayers or by passengers who simply need quiet time. www.breitbart.com/news/2006/12/01/D8LOC15O0.html

It's not that they want to be able to pray in an airport. They just want to be able to show us their behind some more.

I guess I just don't get it. I've never seen a Muslim pray so I'm assuming that it is different than the way I pray. I don't need a seperate room to pray in. I can pray anywhere I want. I can pray right in front of everyone and they would never even know it. It is one of those things that makes me go.....hmmmmm.

And, not meaning to disrespect anyone's religion here, but it blows my mind to see all those people in their prayer position. It would sure get me out of prayer mode REALLY quick if the person with their butt up in my face broke wind while I was praying. It was bad enough for my brother Mark to break wind during the prayer at church when we had the hard pews to sit on. I was only six years old, and that broke my concentration for the rest of the service. Dad took me outside because I didn't shut up laughing and whipped my butt, then Mark started laughing and he took Mark out.

I don't believe that there should be prayer rooms, chapels or places of worships for any religion at an airport.
There's no shortage of Mosques, Churches and Synagogues everywhere else.

That was hilarious, Porky! "I'm hearing something real powerful from someone..." But seriously...to even consider providing prayer rooms, or special areas specifically for Muslims would be a big mistake. Inch---mile. The areas set aside presently for prayer or meditation or for just plain relaxation is within reason as all can use them and no particular group is being kowtowed to. Thanks for the laugh Porky!

In Columbus, Ohio we got in a ton of Somali refugees and they are all Muslim. I seen a van load of them get out at a McDonalds just off of I-70 & Wilson road. Walk over to a strip of green grass off of the parking lot and start knealing and praying right there in front of everyone. it takes about 5 minutes, or at least this one did. Most people don't like to see something like that in public. Prayer should be a more personal thing between man & God- not a public diaplay in mid afternoon.

Now I can see how this could be disturbing to other people. I might even be disturbed by such a thing. I wouldn't know for sure unless I experienced it but it might unnerve me a little. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with what they are doing it just differs so much from the way I was raised. I was raised to believe that prayer is between you and God and is not something that should be done for all the world to see. Matthew 6:5
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret , will reward you.

Praying in the middle of a parking lot off on the grass is something I don't think that bible verse had in mind.

I think 'staging area' would be a more accurate description.

I think 'staging area' would be a more accurate description. I think if they want to be noticed so badly they need to have them praying out on the tarmac. ;D
