Personally I think the reguirements for equal protection under the law will eventually lead to some form of civil marriage/civil unions for homosexuals. I think so, too. I also think that, instead of destroying the concept of marriage, it may help to strengthen it by focusing more on commitment to another person rather than focusing on genetalia. That's ridiculous.

Commitment is what separates roommates from married couples.

Commitment is much more important tha genitalia. Caring and sharing life if what makes a "marriage" mroe than anything else.

Commitment is what separates roommates from married couples. And you think making them equals will help strengthen the "marriage" ties?

Heterosexual marriages won't be hurt by homosexual marriages. BS...and that pretty well sums it up. Considering no one has ever been able to explain just how heterosexual marriage is going to be hurt by homosexual marriage, I'd have to say your opinion is BS.

BS...and that pretty well sums it up. Please explain how it will hurt my marriage Never said it would hurt your marriage. But redefining it to make the act meaningless is da*n sure going to have a negative effect on future arrangements. Just another small step in destroying the family unit as far as I am concerned.

Why have marriage at all. If you want to redefine it to make it meaningless why not just do away with it altogether. Hell, you don't need to be married to cohabitate anyway, just do away with it and do away with the so-called privileges associated with it...WTS, it seems to be all about the "privileges" anyway as far as queers are concerned.

Changing the standard of civil marriage does not make it meaningless, it changes the meaning. Do you think the "privilege" of government benefits associated with married status should be done away with?

To make marriage meaningless, wouldn't we have to give roommates the same priviledges that married couples enjoy? But that's not what gays are asking for. They're saying that the priviledges of married couples should ONLY be bestowed upon folks who are willing to make a legal commitment to each other, thereby making marriage more meaningful....not less.

Heterosexual marriages won't be hurt by homosexual marriages. BS...and that pretty well sums it up. Actually, no it doesn't. HOW will homosexuals being allowed to marry hurt heterosexual marriage? Do you think if same-sex unions are made legal that people will divorce en mass to become "queer"?
