Washington, DC (AP) - About 985,000 Easy-Bake Ovens sold since last May have been recalled because children can get their hands or fingers caught in the oven's opening, which poses an entrapment or burn hazard. For a free retrofit kit, call the company at 800-601-8418. For more information, visit www.easybake.com or www.cpsc.gov.

This sounds like another recall resulting from parents not following the directions that come with the toy and letting kids use them without adult supervision. The silly things bake. Of course they are hot and can burn skin!

My 9 year old daughter got one for Christmas. I'm gonna go ahead and order the part only because I have a 2 year old. From time to time, I turn my back in my kitchen. Anything can happen in 2 seconds with a 2 year old.

yes-the parents should be watching them, but this hole in the front does seem a bit larger than the older model-the side loading one

I did not know those ovens were still around. They were around in the 1960's, I think my sister got one for Christmas 40 years ago. As I recall they bake using 2 regular light bulbs. Unless I'm thinking of something else- of course my sisters oven did not last long everything she got, she broke. She got that "Patty Play-Pal" Doll one year for Christmas, that was a life-sized doll that could walk with you, she broke that before New-Years day. She once got a doll called "Betsy Wetsy" that lasted the longest. She was very hard on her toys.

I hate those ovens! They are worthless, they heat and cook by a freakin' light bulb.. You mix up a little dab of water in a pile of mixture and it makes a palm sized pile of sugar to bake!!!!! My daughter loves this and wanted to bake over weekend. I went to the store and bought a real cake mix , icing and cupcake holders and I let her bake! All I did was put in oven for her. Now that was FUN.

If I had one of those ovens I would keep it- It could become a rare collector's item.
