I've been dieting for about 3 weeks, don't actually remember when I started, but I've lost about 13 lbs. My waist measurement has gone down 3 inches! I'm basically avoiding bread and sugar, but eat things like pita which has less calories than other breads, and there is always a certain amount of sugar in prepared foods, but I'm watching it very closely.
Any other tips you might have would be welcome! I have a sweet tooth and finding something that tastes sweet with few calories is tough.

Good job kiddo, keep it up if it makes you happy and you feel good... Yeah and when she feels good she is less a PITB for the rest of us. J/K Birdie, sounds like the Dr Gott diet, I've heard it works really well.

My allergy doctor told me that sugar and bread will encourage the growth of yeast which creates problems in the sinuses, but avoiding sugar and bread also has the great side effect of helping you lose weight.

Dr Gott, has daily newspaper articles on health issues, taking questions from his reader and answering them. Has a couple of books out and has a diet that is supposed to work for most people...it stresses no flour, no sugar I think.

But, he's on the right track with his advice. We all eat too much bread and sugar. I'm a sugarholic and will go wild on sugar, so I can't keep it in the house. Chocolate . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Does sugar cause weight gain? I guess the key to healty diets is moderation. My problem is salt, I take far too much of it.

Avoid anything that has "High Fructose Corn Syrup" as an ingredient. It's a cheaper version of sugar. It blocks the signal that the stomach sends the brain to tell it it's full so you overeat.
